not sure if related.Įdit: Ran diagnostics at boot up. any thoughts? What should I try next?Īlso, if it's relevant, booting startup times have greatly increased since this whole fiasco. point is is it worth trying to fix it? Are there any other quick fixes I could try? Should I just take it to someone who knows what they're doing, but then they'll charge a diagnosis fee (fair enough). but it could also be battery or even motherboard? I know nothing about these and I see that replacing the motherboard would be 2-300 bucks, battery at least 50. I don't know much about short circuits, enough to solve it. I also unplugged battery and help down power button to drain residual power.
#DELL XPS 13 2012 BATTERY DRIVERS#
Removed the various battery drivers in device manager, then scanned for hardware changes to reinstall them. So I did that, I loosened the screw a tiny bit and I put electrical tape around the DC input. and that loosening screw that holds DC input might do the job. At one point when the error was manifesting, I decided to disconnect the battery, and plug in AC adaptor, the error message disappeared, but of course I need to use it on battery, so this was a temporary diagnostic fix (does it mean battery is bad? Computer says battery health is good!) Then I read that it could be some type of short circuit. In the meantime battery health said it was all good. New Charger didn't change the error message. Yay! About 12 hours later, the error message appeared again. I figured the faulty dc input was culprit. Then a week ago I got the message that my laptop was not recognizing the charger (also in F2 startup AC adaptor was unknown). Cue panic (laptop dying), but then somehow the laptop still accepted charger. About a month ago the center female pin (really it was the metal tube casing around several pins) of my dc input in the laptop fell out.
